Schmoyer Sundial

This sundial with its unique gnomon was created by Richard Schmoyer in the early 1960's. The NASS 3D printed Schmoyer Sunquest dial is a 1/3-scale 3D printed PLA replica of this famous sundial. The model is 5 1/2 in (140mm) in diameter.

One of the highlights of the NASS conference in St. Louis was this 3D printed Schmoyer Sunquest dial that, unlike traditional dials, tells precise civil time. The model follows Richard Schmoyer's original design, except for seasonal adjustment, which is enlarged on the model to properly adjust the gnomon throughout the year. If you want the dial for the Southern hemisphere or the original "classic" Schmoyer Sunquest dial without adjustment knob, let us know at the time your order.
It is shipped in a USPS Flat Rate Priority Box. At no additional cost your name and latitude and longitude will be embossed on the meridian arc of the dial. If the dial is a gift, let us know name and appropriate latitude and longitude. Some assembly required.
